Projectiles

Remove soft, medium, and hard deposits

Abalco only works with Goodway Benelux projectiles. These projectiles (darts) are known for safety, effectiveness, and reliability. Goodway projectiles are used in various industries for removing soft, medium, and hard deposits in heat exchanger- and condenser tubes. Furthermore, Goodway projectiles are safe to use on nearly all kinds of tube materials, including titanium and Cu/Ni (cupper/nickel) alloys. Projectiles can be used to clean straight, smooth tubes, it is not possible to clean tubes with grooves.

Tube scrubbers

Remove soft deposits in tubes

Tube scrubbers are made from polyethylene material and used to remove soft deposits in heat exchanger- and condenser tubes. Think of fouling such as: algae, mud, silt, biofouling, sludge, and sand. Tube scrubbers are the most affordable projectiles and can be reused around 2-3 times, depending on various factors. These projectiles are often used for tubes with minimal fouling levels.

  • Most affordable projectile type
  • Can be reused 2-3 times
  • Effective against sludge, silt, algae

Nylon coiled brushes

Remove soft/medium deposits in tubes

Nylon coiled brushes are the most used projectiles for removing soft to medium type deposits in heat exchanger- and condenser tubes. Think of fouling such as: algae, silt, biofouling, mussels/barnacles, and light scale. Nylon coiled brushes have an excellent price to performance ratio and often remove all deposits within the first pass through the tubes. They can be reused around 3-5 times, depending on various factors. These projectiles are often used to clean the tubes of water-cooled condensers.

  • Most used projectile type
  • Can be reused 3-5 times
  • Effective against biofouling, barnacles, light scale

Bi-directional nylon coiled brushes

Remove soft/medium deposits in tubes

Bi-directional nylon coiled brushes are twice the length of regular coiled brushes, effectively providing twice the cleaning surface. These projectiles are used for removing soft to medium type deposits in heat exchanger- and condenser tubes. Think of fouling such as: algae, silt, biofouling, mussels/barnacles, and light scale. Bi-directional nylon coiled brushes have the advantage of being able to be loaded in the tube from both sides, saving time. They can be reused around 3-5 times, depending on various factors. These projectiles are often used to clean condenser tubes.

  • Twice the length of regular coiled brushes
  • Can be reused 3-5 times
  • Effective against biofouling, barnacles, light scale

Carbon steel super scrubbers (SSM)

Remove medium/hard deposits in tubes

Carbon steel super scrubbers (SSM's) are one of the most advanced tube cleaning projectiles available. SSM's are used for for removing medium to hard type deposits in heat exchanger- and condenser tubes. Think of fouling such as: mussels, barnacles, calcium, and limescale. SSM's are often used to remove limescale deposits. Depending on the scale severity, it can take one or more passes to remove the scale layer. These projectiles can be reused around 8-10 times, depending on various factors. SSM's can be used in any industry, but are often utilized at power generation plants.

  • Safe for tube material, even titanium and Cu/Ni
  • Can be reused 8-10 times
  • Effective against barnacles, calcium, limescale

Reusable projectiles

Tube cleaning projectiles (darts) can be reused. In other words, one projectile can be used to clean several tubes. The amount of tubes that can be cleaned with a projectile depends on several factors, such as the projectile type, tube length, deposits inside the tubes, and also the way they are caught when they exit the tubes.

Projectile tube cleaning is already performed by various (multinational) companies across the world to clean their heat exchanger and condenser tubes. Some examples of companies are:
